How long does it take to recover after a root canal?

Root canal therapy is a straightforward procedure we use to relieve inner tooth infections as well as prevent them in the future. In more minor cases of tooth decay, we may still be able to treat them with a tooth-colored filling.

Treating a tooth infection early is always preferable to seeking root canal treatment, but if we do perform this treatment, then your recovery will happen quickly.

The Root Canal Therapy Process

After our dental team has assessed your condition and determined that a root canal is the best course, we can finish the starting in one or two visits to our Topeka, KS dental clinic.

Before the procedure, we take digital x-rays of your damaged tooth to see the inner structure and plan. We then provide anesthetic to numb the tooth and other areas where we will work. Then, using gentle rotary tools, we remove all the infected tissue, thoroughly cleaning your inner tooth areas.

To protect your newly cleaned inner tooth, our dentist injects a biocompatible filler to ensure no more bacteria can penetrate your tooth. Finally, we cover the tooth with a dental crown to protect it, and once we've placed your new dental crown, you can begin using it right away.
